Stress Awareness and the Lightbox
It’s National Stress Awareness Month
It’s not hard to find an article out there asking the question: how stress can affect creativity.
The real question that is asked amongst the Heidi Swapp Media Team is How Can Creativity Affect Stress.
Let me take you on a little journey about creativity and stress, oh…and the idea behind One Day At A Time.
One day at a time. An often heard phrase.
Often just thrown around. Not much thought behind it.
I would like to suggest an idea though. That is: we pay more attention to the idea of one day at a time. The idea of staying in the moment. The idea that is to focus on that which is right in front of us. Especially in light of being aware of stress and even reducing it’s levels.
Being creative with our hands causes our mind to stay tuned to that activity. That creativity then helps decrease cortisol in our bodies. Cortisol is a stress hormone. It increases when we respond to stress. But that can lead to an increase in blood sugar over time. No good.
Do you see how this is a circular idea here? Keeping a visual in my craft space, like the above One Day At a Time, is one of the best stress awareness reminders I can have. For me it reminds me to do what my space is providing me to do: and that is to make something.
And might I remind you too to grab these fun Handwritten Fonts for your Lightbox. This vibe alone invites a relaxed mood in a space. I love that.
So, what’s the moral here: One Day At a Time, friends. Take time out of your day. Make something. Get focused on creativity. See if that does not help with the stress you may be feeling in your life. Keep it visual. And feel better.
