not that i am ready to move onto "thanksgiving" yet, but i had so much SPOOKINESS going on in my classes, that i decided to switch gears and put together something that i could leave up for awhile! after i made this banner last night, i created 3 'kits' and took them to my sister's house so that after our YUM sunday dinner (gasp, i ate fish!! thanks clark!) and the indulgent choc. cake made by my SIL…(red velvet and choc. chip bundt cake) we cleaned up the counters and let the kids rip the house to shreds while we 'created'! i used Scenic Route paper mostly the Sonoma line; lots of HS jet black chandelier crystals, swirl stamps and "dew drops". i might have gotten a little crazy with glimmer mist as well! (FUN!)
The "monogram" kit is probably one of the most versatile and useful products that we sell on the houseof3.com website. it's a little pricey at $19.00, but it's well worth the expense. You get a pdf file for the entire alphabet, and each printable is just a little different. the pdf files, have a larger letter, and a smaller one on the printout, as shown below:
all you have to do is select the paper that you wish to print these letters on, and feed the paper into your printer, and cut or trim them out. I like to lay out the papers in the order they will appear in the banner to determine what letter i will print on what color background etc. all the letters are just a little different font, and just vary a bit in the shape and size of the letters to add variety in what you are spelling out.
Not only can you create these fun banners very quick, for any occasion- or as gifts. just think how cute they would look on a big chunky tag on a holiday gift, or even place cards for thanksgiving or christmas dinner. if you are starting to think about holiday gifts, i think that personalized stationary or alphabet cards (just simple quarter fold cards w/ a monogram on the front) would be SUCH a personal and thoughtful gift! also great gifts for teachers and co-workers to create little planners, or journals w/ their monograms all over them! the kit comes w/ PDF file and PNG files. Using the PNG files you can manipulate the size, color (and so many other things) in photoshop and even in illustrator. if you do not have photoshop, then you can adjust the size of the prints w/ the print box that comes up when you send the files to print. I will be walking you through each letter on my banner this week here on my blog to give you some creative ideas and get you thinking about all these fabulous holiday ideas! wink.
*i am LOVING my new 'holiday' scented candles… treat yourself!! something fall-ish like cinnamon or nutmeg! (i got mine at Bath and Body works on sale 2/$20) good stuff.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!
(see you in TEXAS??)
