The Best Gift You Can Give Is A Story
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. And it’s time to create the most wonderful gifts.
Today let’s talk about Storyline. As a gift. Yep. You heard me. A Storyline layout made extra special on a DIY stand can make a most wonderful and meaningful gift.
For this gift, I gathered a significant photo and a 12×12″ Storyline page.
To make it extra special and gift-worthy, a desktop stand was going to be needful. This square wall plaque (found here at Michaels) started white. I added grey swipes of paint and left it with a distressed finish. The large clip was hot glued to the top so as to hold the finished Storyline page.
And speaking of Storyline, I used only that collection to embellish the gift page. Adventure was my go to Deck of Days kit.
The other item I used from this collection was the Wedding Journal Sticker Kit. The kraft and black was needed to embellish the monochromatic feel I had going on with this layout. When using Storyline, you don’t have to stay with the theme to make it work. Each of the kits are so very versatile. They all work together to help get stories told.
To put this page together, I started with the photo. I opted to make it a black and white. Keeping gifts neutral in color allows them to fit with the recipients decor better.
After the photo was in place I built the embellishments around it and kept it as the focal point. Using the Adventure Deck of Days, I chose cards that not only remained neutral, but also spoke into the story that I was telling. Pop-dots are always a good idea. Since the page was going to be ‘outside the pocket page’ I had freedom to give the die cut embellishments some height.
As the embellishments started to take shape around the photo, I next layered in the ‘Wedding’ Journal Stickers. I like to use different sizes and shapes to add the journaling to the page. This gives a lot of interest and dimension. Pulls the reader into the story.
To finish up I did a couple of things. Photo corners are always a nice touch and continue to give focus to the photo. The Journal Sticker Kit includes date stickers and days. I made sure to add those in to document this moment in time.
When all was in place, including a few floral stickers and gold foil clear words, I clipped the completed page to the wall plaque.
All the details are included on this page.
The Kits offer so much opportunity to dress these pages up or down. It’s up to you how much time and effort you give these gifts.
Because in the end, it’s your love and story that is important.
The kits will afford you plenty of product to make these in multiples. Plenty of people on your list can be blessed by your story. Your words to them. Photos that tell about a moment in time. And that, my friends, is a priceless gift.
