using mists & color magic for a quick, easy layout
Thought I’d share a quick project that I made as I was just playing around with Color Magic paper! It’s really amazing to just play with and explore different effects.
I misted this Hexagon design with a really light color- in fact, it’s one of the new ‘plain jane’ sheer Glimmer Mists from Tattered Angels. I love the soft look, but it was lacking some dimension, was a little too soft. I wondered what it would look like to start filling in just a few of the hexagons with extra color! I used a pointed paint brush to layer more of the same color right into the areas that I wanted it. then I used some slightly different color mists to change the tones just a bit! I even used some ‘gold’ Color Shine to add a metallic pop in some areas. I LOVED the effect! And it’s so easy!
As I started to construct a layout featuring my sweet little connor with a couple of my favorite photos of him, I wound up adding more intense color (Mint Green Color Shine) to another piece of the same pattern of Color Magic paper, and cutting a few of the hexagon shapes out, and with some 3D foam dots popping them up in just a few places as embellishments! This is such a simple and subtle way to play up the hexagon trend!
I also wanted to note that as I laid the scallop ‘destination’ trimmings on the page, the color was not meshing with this soft look, so I sprayed it with some of the same misting colors I was working with, and while it doesn’t really ‘sink in’, it definitely tinted the trims so that it coordinated perfectly with my layout!
I embellished with my fun Disco Stars, as well as adding some of the smaller stars from my No Limit’s Buzzwords. Connor just turned ‘five’, but these photos really captured the look I will remember from him as a four-year-old. The word “FOUR” is made from some of my new alphas released at the show. It’s nice to have that pop of white! I only added a bit of journaling here on the card from the No Limits sentiment storage. The colors and word “fun” were a perfect final touch. I journaled about how Connor is just a ‘bright spot’ in my day! (in everyone’s day!)
what are the ‘bright spots’ in your life today!? take a minute to document your special little ‘bright spot’! have a great weekend!
