A Very Merry Christmas gift idea coming your way.

Minc Ideas | Very Merry Quick Gift Banner DIY

Happy December, friends. I feel ever so privileged to be on the blog first up this December with a quick gift idea. Minc and Christmas ideas just seem to go together. What with the glam of the Minc and the festivness of the holidays. These two were simply made for each other.

With that in mind I decided to craft a gift banner that can be all wrapped up for a quick and early present for someone who needs some sparkle in their life. Which is just about all of us.

A couple of Heidi Swapp items went into the making of this Very Merry Gift Banner:

Minc Machine
Gold Stars Foil
Minc Surface Pad
Art Walk Project Pad
Storyline Chapters Project Pad
Noel Digital Bundle
star dies

Here is basically how this went.

I took a green cardstock from the Art Walk Project Pad and cut stars with that Christmasy hue. I also cut two end stars from a burgundy paper found in the Storyline Chapters 6×8 Project Pad. Some were cut with a die cutting machine. Some were cut using a star template I had in my stash. But do note: it makes the banner look a lot more complete if the paper is backed with another piece of cardstock. That way if the banner stars flip you can still see the colored cardstock.

For the Minc parts I did two things: first I die cut the Toner Paper found in the Surface Pad into smaller star shapes. Then, using the Glue Paper in the same Surface Pad, I cut the words Very Merry (you can find that Heidi Swapp Digital Bundle HERE). Why do I use the Glue Paper for the words? The words are cut pretty thin. I think using the Glue Paper makes for a better cut when it’s more delicate. This then creates a better coverage of the foil over the die cut word.

After all the things were cut up, it was time to assemble. One option for the digital die cut words was to adhere them to two of the star cut outs. But then, I liked the idea of gluing the cuts to the gold thread I was using to tie the banner pieces together. The best way to do this is to lay the die cut word on it’s front, then add a gingerly amount of craft glue to the wider parts on the back, then lay the thread over the glue. Let it dry. It makes for a very pretty and ethereal banner vibe.

When the banner was strung with the gold thread and the die cut words were dry in place, then I layered all the pieces one atop the other. It was then wrapped with gold ribbon I had in my stash. I used a Minc Stamp to stamp the word CELEBRATE on a notched tag. Then I used an Art Walk Definition Sticker to layer on a little sentiment for the recipient.

I think this would be a fun gift for a teacher to hang in their classroom to help make spirits bright.

Just one way to use Minc to sparkle up a quick and easy gift this season.
