Why Start Now In Your Memory Planner

Right here and now.

That is an often used adage for us scrappers. Whether we are talking about a story. Or a memory. Or a photo. We often use that idiom to encourage ourselves to take a notice at what is happening right here and right now.

Today I want to take that idea and apply it to a Memory Planner reset. Why is now a good time to pick up a Heidi Swapp Memory Planner. Print some photos. Grab a pen. And tell a little story?

It’s the middle of the year. It’s a natural reset time for many of us. It’s the middle of the season and there is a lot going on right now. And there is a lot to happen in the near future. So now is as good as any time to either 1. reset and restart your Memory Planner goals. Or 2. start brand new in a planner.

Maybe you have become a little bit ‘behind’. Well. That’s OK. It really is. Don’t worry about what has not happened. Reflect instead on what you would like your planner to be to you. Are your standards too high in how you want that planner page to look? Do you feel like you could never make it look like some of the planner mavens on your IG feed? Is there just too much comparison going on? Then reboot and decide what is going to work for you. There really are no rules.

It’s OK to keep it simple. It’s OK to repeat page spreads from one week or month to the next (like I do ALL the time with my dashboard). It’s OK to make it uniquely yours. You don’t even have to show what you do. It’s your personal space. I think I would even go as far as to call it a ‘safe space’.

Life is good. And perhaps you feel the blur is just, well, blurring right past you. Another idea is to just simply add a few photos. And bullet point your thoughts. A planner page does not need to be a full-on scrapbook page. As a matter of fact, I like to use my planner as a starting point to a traditional scrapbook page. But then, sometimes not. See? A memory planner’s intent is to serve you. You are not to serve the planner or all the expectations off all those uber fabulous planner spreads found on all the social media channels.

Are you hearing a theme here?

Start right now in your Memory Planner and create just what you want to create. The half way mark on the year is an awesome place to draw a proverbial line in the sand and review, restart, and reboot your personal planner to your personal expectations.

And remember: just have fun.
