World Kindness Day

World Kindness Day

this weekend we celebrate World Kindness Day! our team has always been one to want to shine our light and be an encouragement to this world! We came together to share how kindness matters to each of us. here’s what the team had to say.

Be Kind lightbox by @createoften for @heidiswapp

In our family, kindness starts with sharing love right where we are. We talk about what it means to be a “Good Samaritan”. It doesn’t just mean to be kind to our next door neighbor, but to everyone we meet. Sharing love and compassion is contagious. This weekend, I am taking my kids out and we are going to give flowers to random people in our community. We are going to take the time to look up and around us and see who needs a little encouragement. Maybe it is a mother at the grocery store or a homeless man on a street corner. We are going to take the time to be kind because kindness can change the world.  – Jen Evans

We Rise by Lifting Others lightbox by Maggie Massey for @heidiswapp

“We rise by lifting others.” – Robert Ingersoll

What a powerful quote.

In a day when it is all too easy to criticize others while we hide behind our computers, these words are so important. When we take the time to be kind…with a nice word or gesture or action – even just a simple smile…we not only affect the recipient of the kindness in ways we may never know, but we also feel happier, less stressed-out and more fulfilled!

Win-win, right?!

And kindness is something I try to teach my kids every single day. In fact, one of the most important lessons I’d like them to learn is that you don’t have to like everybody or be friends with everybody…but you MUST be kind to everybody. Everybody. In the end, it’s how we treat others that separates us from everything else.

So here’s my challenge to you. Do something kind for a stranger today. It doesn’t have to be big…and it doesn’t have to be loud…it just has to be.

‘They may forget what you said — but they will never forget how you made them feel.’
—Carl W. Buehner – Maggie Massey

Throw Kindness Around Like Confetti lightbox by Lindsay Bateman for @heidiswapp

Kindness is one of the most powerful capabilities we have as human beings to influence our world.  It literally costs nothing….yet it’s impacts are priceless.  There have been many moments in my life that I can remember so vividly because of someones selfless gesture of kindness.  Those moments impacted me so deeply, I will never forget.  So today, in honour of World Kindness Day I challenge you to “spread kindness like confetti”.  Open a door, share a friendly exchange, treat your neighbour to a coffee or listening ear.  Surprise a friend with an unexpected visit or phone call.  I can assure you that these actions will not only make their day, but will uplift them and encourage them to do the same for someone else. How’s that for setting up an amazing chain reaction? Cue the confetti! 😉 – Lindsay Bateman

To Smile is to Be Kind lightbox by Kim Jeffress for @heidiswapp

Being a teacher and a mum of young boys I really try to promote kindness every day. It is just as important for children to be kind as we adults. Us parents and teachers can be the perfect role model and for me one of the easiest ways to do that is to smile at someone…you never know what back story they have or what is happening in someones life, but giving someone a smile is one small way we can be kind! Its easy, its free and it makes such a difference ! – Kim Jeffress

Be Kind Everyday lightbox by Jamie Pate for @heidiswapp

Be Kind.
For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
– Plato.

This quote on being kind is one I have appreciated for a long time. It’s easy to be kind when we are feeling upbeat and all is going well with our world. The hard part is to be mindful about how we treat others in the busyness of our everyday. It’s important we are gentle to the check out clerk at our local grocery. It may go unnoticed, but to let that car in front of us even if I have the right of way. Taking an extra second to let the stranger through the door before you, and giving smile as well. Saying please. Saying thank you. Simple? Yes. Completely simple and perhaps even not noticed. Important? It’s always important to be kind. Because everyone, everyone…is fighting their own battle. – Jamie Pate
