wow! happy new year

wow! happy new year

it’s been a LONG time since i blogged….seriously everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

i have to tell you that despite my BAH HUMBUG attitude, we had the most wonderful, fabulous, delightful christmas on record! from about the time of my last post until christmas eve… i was under the GUN… work deadlines were top pryority and seemed to be relentless… then personal deadlines that were long overdue like making christmas cards, wrapping presents, making neighbor gifts, celebrating my anniversary (11years) on the 21st (what were we thinking) and eric’s b-day on the 22nd. then all things compounded with kids being let out of school and wanting to do “fun things as a family”!! WOOO HOOO we made it. we spent a wonderful christmas eve with jarmans… get this: we swam. it was about 85 degrees during the day and completely unchristmassy! we had a delicious dinner, played and visited. i loved having christmas on sunday. maybe that is cause we didn’t have church until 1pm, so our festitivties were completed along with a nap for mom and dad before we had to be there. but our church service was so beatufiul and i sat and cried through the whole thing. feeling overwhelmingly blessed and so much love for my savior and increased understanding of HIS mission. monday morning we loaded up and headed for SLC, utah… for a weeks play with my family.
TWELVE HOURS in the car…(love that drive)… we had the best time! boys all boarded. i froze… i have to do something about my thinning blood! we ate at all my favorite places, went snowmobiling at my grandpa’s cabin in Oakley and basically just spent every minute we could together as a family.
and now– it’s almost midnight, and i am going to go and soak in a HOT bath and try to recover from that same 12 hour drive home.

i am happy to be home. i have a huge number of ‘unread’ emails in my in-box. we go the carpets cleaned while we were gone… and so there is furniture and odd’s and ends stacked all over as well… and since i seriously took the week OFF, i am sure that i have piles of issues to attack tomorrow.
I am SO excited for the NEW YEAR!
i LOVE the new year… i don’t know if i just like a ‘clean slate’ or a ‘fresh start’ or what… i just feel a renewed sence of self every year. i have my list of ‘resolutions’ that i have thought long and hard about… and am determined to push myself to grow in new ways! we sat as a family on new year’s eve and wrote our resolutions…. we each wrote 5 in the areas of: physical, spiritual, financial, educational and a wild card… as we were all participating i was particularly touched by my quincy’s new year’s resolution: “never give up”. i don’t know where she got that… (she’s 4)… but i almost felt that it was just what i needed to remember. so i did add that to my list, and i plan to apply that to each category.
i wish you a very happy and delightful new year.
and that what ever it is that you decide to take on this year… whatever it is you wish to change, or improve on in yourself… that you will ‘never give up!’

wishing you the very best year ever… happy 2006

My big indulgence in the day is reading some respected blogs…and I have to say that I love your candor about your faith and openness. I sometimes question the secular nature of the hobby I am desperately in love with, and yet, I see examples of women who exude Christ’s love through their blogs and layouts more and more. Thanks!
And Good Providence (not luck!) on the New Year’s Resolutions! We are trying with ourselves and our 3 little ones to give them one or two spiritual goals each year – a chracter trait to fine tune and a scriptural memory goal….

awwwww your daughter’s resolution is so adorable, isn’t it funny how kids come up with things we would never think of, but that make total sence?
I don’t do resolutions, well I guess I do, just not New Years ones, I do All Years ones LMAO…

So happy to see you back, Heidi. It’s fun reading about your famly Christmases. I just Love Christmas even though it’s a lot of work to get it all pretty . But I love even more the real meaning, and it’s COOL to see people celebrating that real meaning.
I saw a guy on tv yesterday morning talking about new year resolutions (in the area of staying younger than your chronological age), and he said, “Email a friend every day. Connecting with other people keeps you younger.” So this is my email for today:
To everyone who reads this: have a great day and year enjoying beautiful photos, art, nature, children, animals, and families because they all reflect life and the author of life. Notice all the little things. I’m thankful for all of you who add beauty to life in your own worlds.

Happy New Year, Miss Heidi! SO happy that you’re back in the blogging world. I, too, admire your openess about your faith and admire that about you. I also love your idea of sitting the family down to write new year’s resolutions together, what a neat idea. So are your pink trees taken down yet?! 😉

Happy New Year may many blessings come your way in 2006. The boarding sounds great, do you snowboard to? Gary and I are addicted its so cool – you should join the boys and give it a go if you havn’t tried already. I am seriously excited about 2006 too, last year had too many hard things in it – already this year has lots of good things to look forward too (u2 concert in March being one of them – cool) looking forward to trying to better myself too – a lifelong challenge. May many creative ideas flow in 2006 – much love Chanel
