you need this cookbook!!
Cory had a great birthday! 10. Wow. We open presents in the morning, before school… as if our mornings aren’t chaotic enough! Chuckle. All Cory wanted was an ‘airsoft’ gun, or money, so he could buy an ‘airsoft’ gun. So, just to give him a hard time, we wrapped up presents that are NOT interesting to a 10 year old: socks, pencils, new shorts, new shirts and ugly teeth gag gifts. (ok, there was a little candy in there that was somewhat redeeming!) And just to torture him more fully, I color copied 10 dollar bills, and taped them on top of the gifts. There was ONE real 10 dollar bill (smile!)… well, he then caught on and figured out that there was something else, and found the ‘airsoft shotgun’ under colton’s bed. He was SOO excited. after I took a Sonic Chili Cheese Cooney to school for Cory for lunch, and donuts to the classroom, Cassie took them for Sonic treats after school and Eric and I took Cory to the restaurant of his choice for dinner. (He chose Chilis!) … SO, we had a great daY! Cory was happy!! I love Chili’s…

ok, so check this out:
This is my most favorite cook book ever.
Now, I am not a big ‘cook’, but you know, families like to eat. This cook book has been my staple cook book, the fall back, the true blue…awesome. And it’s got it all: desserts, breads, appetizers, main dishes…etc. I love it. ok, so just a few days ago, I mentioned ‘Elizabeth Banks’ on my blog- the one w/ the easter goodies!… it’s her cookbook. She is a family friend, that I feel like I have known her forever… she is just an all around totally awesome, feel good, taste good cook. Ok, so anyway, I dropped a little thank you thing off, and we got talking and I asked if she has more of those cookbooks… I mean, I thought surely they were long gone! GOOD NEWS!! She has just done another run, and so she has some to sell! I was so excited, because I think they are awesome gifts… anyway, she usually sells them for $15. but is offering them for $12.99. (sweet deal) you can email her HERE if you would like to pick one up! she has given me ONE to give away!! So if you would LOVE to have my most FAVORITE cookbook ever… leave me a comment and tell me what is your favorite thing to cook! I love her salads, the texas sheet cake recipie is in there, tons of cookies and yummy realistic meals, tasty soups. It’s a winner, I TOTALLY recommend it.
holy cow.. she makes the BEST sugar cookies ever.

15 April, 2009 at 4:21 pmMy favorite meal to cook right now, is cut 3 pieces of thick sliced bacon into small pieces, brown, add a sliced onion and 1/2 pound of mushrooms, brown slightly, add a pound of baby spinach and wilt, add about 2 cups cooked pasta, salt and pepper toss together and you have a great, quick easy meal. You can dress this up with other protein, vegetables or herbs.

15 April, 2009 at 5:10 pmFave thing to cook – Coq au vin. Got the recipe from Saveur (http://www.saveur.com/article/food/Coq-au-Vin-21046725) and it is decadent! A lot of work – but SO worth the effort once in a while.
If you make it, you can just use whatever chicken pieces you like rather than the whole chicken, which doesn’t yield much for a big group.

Lizzy
15 April, 2009 at 7:33 pmI would LOVE the cookbook! I like to cook and bake all sorts of things, and am always on the lookout for new “family favourites”. It’s difficult to chose just one favourite to talk about here, but I guess one thing that I’m liking recently is trying to find our “old favourites” in a lower-calorie formulation, or to adapt an “old favourite” into something more nutritious. And since one sure-fire way to make something more nutritious is to add lots and lots of veggies to it, that’s what I’ve been doing. A new favourite at our house is sloppy joes made with lots of onions, green peppers, carrots, celery, and even mushrooms! Mmmmmm! Very tasty!

16 April, 2009 at 1:20 pmI love to bake — cakes, cupcakes, bread, pies, anything. I enjoy cooking as well, especially if I have the time to cook everything from scratch. But baking is my true love as it is something I can share with my co-workers, my husband’s co-workers, the church office, the school, my kids’ classes, etc. That way I get double the joy — from the process of making it and then from sharing it.

16 April, 2009 at 9:42 pmTexas Sheet cake?!!
Okay, my mom and I have been trying to find the perfect sheet cake recipe for EVER. My parents are mission presidents in Texas (so our family is not from there), and so my mother, as the designated “mission mom” is always making them treats and meals. We have YET to find a satisfactory sheet cake recipe. And food in Texas is kind of a big deal.
Please please please we are SO looking for new ideas! Also–my mom’s birthday is in a month. Talk about perfect timing.
In short, if we somehow get the cookbook, and the Texas sheet cake recipe is as divine as you described, I am positive a lot of people would benefit.
love!
Anna
16 April, 2009 at 9:48 pmOkay, sorry! I just made that last post (about Texas sheet cake).
I love to bake lasagna. But only my mom’s recipe. I have yet to find a better lasagna in any Italian-themed restaurant or anyplace else. And talk about radical leftovers!
I also love to make cupcakes. Especially lemon and red velvet ones with cream cheese frosting. Great accessories for a fun peppermint tea party.
Okay, I’m seriously done now. Cheers!

Participants must wear proper safety goggles preferably ANSI rated. Have fun airsofting and remember, practice makes perfect!
